Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1981, she began covering at the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was named as the head White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell was a panelist, as well as host of the TV show Meet the Press. She served as a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government as well as in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) awarded Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her contribution to the protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the arm control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended many summits with the help of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
